Indian Constitution: Our Constitution is a resolve to constitute India into a Sovereign, Socialist and Secular Democratic Republic. A preamble is an introductory statement in a document that explains the document’s philosophy and objectives. Constitution Day is celebrated in India on November 26 every year, the day to mark formation of the Constituent Assembly in 1949 and adopted on January 26, 1950.
Fundamental Rights: It is, in fact, a promise to the people through fundamental rights for securing them socio-economic and political justice, liberty and equality, liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship religion freedom, cultural and educational and right against exploitation. It ensures; equality of status and opportunity; and to promote among all – fraternity, assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity of the nation.
Along with fundamental rights, the Constitution has also given us fundamental duties. Where we have freedom through our fundamental rights, it has been balanced by the fundamental duties.
Fundamental Duties: Fundamental duties basically imply the moral obligations of all citizens towards country & constitution, which are written in Part IV-A of the Constitution adopted by the 42nd and 86th Constitutional Amendment Acts. These includes, abide by the constitution and respect national flag & national anthem, follow ideals of the freedom struggle, protect sovereignty & integrity of India, defend the country and render national services when called upon, sprit of common brotherhood, preserve composite culture, preserve natural environment, develop scientific temper, safeguard public property, strive for excellence and duty for all parents/guardians to send their children in the age group of 6-14 years to school.
National Anthem: One must have respect for the national anthem as provided in our constitution. It is played on all official occasions in the institution and everyone will stand in attention position.
National Flag- Tiranga: The national flag represents the hopes and aspirations of the people of India & is a symbol of our national pride. The colour of the top panel shall be India saffron (Kesari) and that of the bottom panel shall be India green. The middle panel shall be white, bearing at its centre the design of Ashoka Chakra in navy blue colour with 24 equally spaced spokes, prepared with Khadi or hand-spun cloth with size in the ratio of 3:2. It is furled on all national days on any house but on state buildings it can be furled on all days. The flag should always be hoisted briskly and lowered slowly and ceremoniously. The insult or disrespect to the flag or any part of it, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years or with fine, or with both.
Gender Sensitive: Fundamental Rights, among others, ensure equality before the law and equal protection of law; prohibits discrimination against any citizen on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth, and guarantee equality of opportunity to all citizens in matters relating to employment. The policy has been framed towards securing for men and women equally the right to an adequate means of livelihood, equal pay for equal work for both men and women, promote justice, on a basis of equal opportunity and to provide free legal aid by suitable legislation or scheme or in any other way to ensure that opportunities for securing justice are not denied to any citizen by reason of economic or other disabilities securing just and humane conditions of work and for maternity relief.
Legal Issues related to women: The Constitution of India not only grants equality to women but also adopted measures of positive discrimination in favour of women for neutralizing the cumulative socio economic, education and political disadvantages faced by them. The constitution provides legal rights to women against harassment (in any form), dealing issues related to police action, safety and security at work place etc. The offences provides punishment for violation of the any of the provision.
Communal Harmony: It is expected that every law abiding citizen will maintain the harmony & tolerance with everyone comes across irrespective of their cultural, religion, language, race/colour, communal, socioeconomic and other diversities. The code of conduct of the college provides specific provision and committed to maintain harmony and inculcate tolerance among the staff and students and provides inclusive environment to achieve these. Keeping this in view, the activities are organised with the participation of one and all respecting their sentiments and feeling in all respect. The respect is given to all official languages, traditions of all sectors of people and state in the cultural events are encouraged, so they mix up well and share common facilities without any barrier. The ‘Sadbahavna’ divas is celebrated on 20th August every year to educate the importance of communal harmony.
Swachatta & Environment: It is expected that everyone will work for the saving our earth through observance of issues related to it. The conservation of natural resources such as water besides maintaining cleanliness on the campus and all places surrounding you. The saving of electricity when not is use will save natural resources. Everyone should have love for trees and when get opportunity plant a tree and maintain it.
Ethics, Code of conduct & Core Values: GITS have adopted UGC approved Code of Conduct and notifies it on website and display at places. It has been distinguished for excellence in quality education and strive for growth and offering multi-disciplinary courses.
