We are Indians, firstly and lastly. – Dr. BR Ambedkar
The Republic Day celebration at the college was organised in the presence of Dr. Vikas Misra, Director – GITS, Dr. PK Jain, Director – MBA, the HoDs of various departments, faculty, staff members and students. The ceremony commenced with the March past of the NCC cadets followed by unfurling of the National Flag by Dr. Vikas Misra accompanied by the rendition of National Anthem in unison by all present at the function.
The Director reminded the students that it was on this day that the Constitution of India was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949, and came into force on January 26, 1950. He quoted the words of Babasaheb Ambedkar, “If we wish to maintain democracy not merely in form, but also in fact, what must we do? The first thing in my judgment we must do is to hold fast to constitutional methods of achieving our social and economic objectives.”
In his speech, Dr PK Jain said that India is the world’s largest democracy and we should be proud because we are the only nation in the world that has followed the tenets of the Constitution not only in words but in spirit too. He added that the young generation must stay strongly committed to the core values of our nation and the nation Must always comes first.
Sweets were distributed after the Speech and the students proceeded to participate in the Annual Sports Event held at the college.
