The National Institute of urban affairs (NIUA) and Udaipur Municipal Corporation (UMC) sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies, Udaipur for academic cooperation and exchange on 16th February, 2018. The MOU will be signed by Mr. Anand Rudra, Director, NIUA and Mr. Kapil Agarwal, Vice Chairman, Geetanjali Group.

On this occasion Mr. Anand Rudra discussed about various Schemes of Central and State Government like Swacch Bharat Mission, Smart City Project, Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY) etc. Now a day in India there are several challenges with respect to Cleanliness, Clean Water and Medical Awareness. Only three Colleges are selected in India for providing solution of the above cited problems i.e. National Institute of Engineering – Mysore (South Zone), Manav Rachna College – Faridabad (North Zone) and Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies, Udaipur (West Zone). As per the MOU GITS will help in Urban Development of Udaipur City as well to to be a Smart City. He also stated that there is only 50% of population is using Clean water intake as well as very few percentage of population is aware about Cleanliness that’s why they are Setting up the WASH LAB in GITS.

The programme started with the lighting of lamp and Saraswati Vandana. Dr. Manish Varma, Head Civil Department said that USAID and NIUA invites Proposal from Engineering Colleges for setting up the WASH Lab. GITS got selected on the basis of Suggestions and Innovations. He also told that the Validity of MOU is Two Years. The main objective of this MOU is to provide the better solutions for becoming UDAIPUR as a SMART CITY. These solutions are provided by the NIUA, USUAID and GITS. As a part of MOU, NIUA will provide 18 Lacs Rupees fund to GITS for implementing the solutions.

WASH Innovation Lab provides practical knowledge to students as well as it will improve the urbanization of Udaipur City. This lab is also utilized for several activities, awareness camps and research work of students. The Main motto of this lab is Eco Sustainable Development of city.

Geetanjali Group’s Vice Chairman Mr. Kapil Agarwal congratulates to GITS along with this, the proposal to join Udaipur’s urbanization development and many new schemes to come.GITS Director Dr. Vikas Misra conveyed that Clean India Mission is ranked third in the list of priority. The establishment of this lab is a tremendous attitude of making Udaipur a smart city. GITS MBA Director Dr. P K Jain told that the Success of all these schemes will be totally dependent upon the public participation.

Dr. Manish Varma is nominated as a Wash Chairperson for this Wash Lab.
